RAMALLAH, Monday, October 02, 2020 (WAFA) – In a phone call this evening, French President Emmanuel Macron assured President Mahmoud Abbas of France’s unwavering support for peace in the Middle East on the basis of the solution to two states in accordance with international law and the preparation of France to continue its efforts to achieve this goal.

For his part, President Abbas reiterated his call for an international peace conference and his readiness to start negotiations on the basis of a United Nations resolution under the auspices of the International Quartet.

President Abbas stressed during this telephone conversation the need for everyone to respect religions and religious symbols and not allow anything to offend the Prophet Muhammad and all prophets and religions while condemning all who do. At the same time, he stressed his rejection of extremism, violence and terrorism, wherever they come from and in whatever form.

Macron, on the other hand, expressed his respect for Islam and the Islamic world, stressing that he did not intend to offend Islam and Muslims and that he distinguished between terrorism and the extremism, on the one hand, and Islam and the Islamic world, on the other. other.
